Climbing the Mountain

Three years ago, the thought of writing down my thoughts, feelings and stories and then emailing it to people to read, would have been absolutely laughable.
I am a recovering perfectionist, so this next chapter of life feels a little scary and a little out of my depth, but also a little exhilarating! Kind of like climbing a mountain... I'm trying something new, both with this email list, and with a new business this year. My intention here is to create a community of women and men who are interested in trying something different with life; people who are interested in growth, learning, joy, and LIVING to the fullest extent.
When I was a teenager, and into my late twenties I developed a nasty habit... I was so desperately scared to make a wrong move, that in the end I hardly made any moves. I knuckled down on the things that I knew how to do already, and became even better at them. In this way, I cultivated an image of who I wanted to be, who I thought the perfect Haley should be, and then became her. The issue with this though, is that the image I had was two-dimensional. She wasn't a living, breathing human. And she forgot that part of the celebration of being human is sometimes getting messy. In growing. In learning. In trying new things. In adapting and pivoting and changing.
So, in honour of the all of the past versions of me that existed, and all of the future versions of me that will exist, I had to learn how to step away from the life that I thought I should want.
The Summit 🏔️
One thing that has always held true and constant for me, is my love for helping and serving others to reach their full potential. It's why I became a teacher. It's why I've coached countless football teams. It's why I've sat on various committees for years and years. It's the peak for me, the thing right at the top of the mountain that lights me up.
After all of these years, I still had one true thing that lit me up more than anything else. I love to help. I love the power of women. I love big concepts and deep conversations. I love inspiring others. I love the self-development work that I've been doing for years now, and I love that it's helped me to be a better daughter, sister, friend, teacher, coach.
In 2021, I came across the life coaching industry for the first time. I was blown away. It was essentially everything that I was interested in, and everything that I had been embodying and preaching already as a welfare teacher to my students at school.
Fast forward to 2023: I knew I was leaving teaching at the end of the year- I knew I could make a bigger impact- I knew that I wanted more from life- I knew there were bigger issues to help solve than teaching Macbeth to a bunch of unwilling 14 year olds. All of a sudden, I felt like I knew: the path before me was daunting, but it promised a good view. I wanted to be a life coach.
So, here we are. This is my first official announcement. I am now a Quantum Life Coach and I am open for business!
Am I nervous? Absolutely. I've never run a business before. I've never traveled this extensively on my own before either though. And before last week, I hadn't ever sent a bulk email out- if you had trouble subscribing in this last week then I thank you sincerely for your patience and I hope this email found your inbox safely 🙏🏼
There will be some kinks to iron out, there will be a whole lot of up-skilling and learning on the fly, I'm certain. But without learning there is no growth. And my biggest fear? Being in the exact same place in two weeks- two months- two years- or even in twenty years.
One thing I am absolutely, positively, certain about in this moment? Life coaching. It has changed my life and shaped me into the woman I am today writing this email. I've always relished the rapport and the relationships and the well-being needs of my students. I still get messages from students and I still have old notes thanking me with their life for the contribution and care that I showed them; not just as a teacher, but as somebody who deeply cared for them, advised them, redirected them, and held them accountable when they needed it. Some of them are even reading this email 🥰
So what is life coaching?
Gratitude, mindset, daily habits, the language we use to tell our stories, unlimited possibilities, our emotions, health, feminine & masculine energy, relationships, healing, universal laws, learning, joy, curiosity, and growth.
For eight years, part of my job as an English teacher was to analyse all the ways that we tell stories through language... if an author can create a certain perspective with just their words, then why couldn't the same principle be applied to us?
I know that if we change the words that we use on ourselves, and that leads to a shift in perspective, it has the power to change lives. There are decades of research to prove it, and furthermore I offer up my own life changes as proof. What if we didn't have to move mountains to create more success, more love, more joy, and it could just be a simple shift in the way we see the mountain?
In November last year, I made the life-changing and exciting choice to climb another mountain of sorts, and go back to study. I enrolled myself into the Quantum Coaching Academy and I've been working hard behind the scenes with the content, my own coaches, my business mentors, and my clients. What I am learning is nothing short of exhilarating. We really do have the power to change our lives for the better, and it can happen so, so quickly once you understand it. It doesn't need to take years. You can mend relationships and realise lost life-long dreams in a single phone call. I know, because I have experienced it myself, as both a coach to others and personally as a client. It's motivated me more than ever to get this knowledge out there so you guys can also feel this shift and this power over making the decisions in your own life.
Again, I know it's hard to convey in words but the fact that you are reading this means so very much to me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Until next week ✨
Haley 🤍
